Utilizing your breath is one of the greatest built in stress relieving tools you have. Every time you inhale you are nourishing your body with oxygen to send to the muscles, the blood stream and to your brain. Every time you take a slow deep exhale you are triggering your parasympathetic nervous system and the vagus nerve which spreads from your brain to your lungs.
Want to try it out?
Sit or lie down. Close your eyes.
Take a breath in to a count of 4, allowing for your diaphragm (belly) to rise first, then your ribs and then your chest. When you get to the top of your breath, hold it for a count of 4. Begin to slowly exhale, (the slower the better) try a count of 8 as you exhale. Then repeat as many times as needed. 🙏
